Hot olive oil, two pots, one for potatoes, one for the fish.  Start the fried potatoes.  Lay out a sheet of wax paper for the battered fish.  For the batter:  beat the egg. Add milk, juice, oil, salt and pepper.  Add the flour, mix into a gooey mess.  Pat dry the fish.  Cut the fish into 12 pieces.  Coat the fish with the gooey batter, place on the waxed paper.  I use a spatula to slip six pieces of fish into the oil, five minutes.  Do the last six pieces.

Cheap and easy -- about $2.50 per person.
