Hamburger Steak




Ingredients:
  • 1 oz refined olive oil
  • 15 oz ground beef
  • 4 tbls bread crunbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp ea. garlic powder and onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ea. paprika and black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 oz butter
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 4 oz brown mushroom caps, sliced
  • 2 tbls AP flour
  • 1 cup broth (better than bouillon)
  • 1 tbls Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • ...
  • 15 oz yellow potato, chucks
  • 2 oz butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • cream, sour cream, or milk
Directions:
  • pot of water, boil potato to soft enough, drain
  • add butter, salt, pepper, milk etc., mash
  • ...

  • large bowl, beef, crumbs, egg, spices -- mush together
  • form 3 balls, flatten to 2/3" fat
  • 10" Skillet, hot oil -- pattys for 5 minutes, flip for 5 minutes

  • in 8" skillet, heat butter
  • add mushrooms and onion, 5 minutes
  • add flour, stir constantly, 1 minute
  • add broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, heat to boil
  • reduce to simmer until thick enough, about 5 minutes

  • put steak on dish, pour onion/mushroom sauce over steak
  • add potato, enjoy
